P.C. Synopsis

In Philadelphia’s gritty jazz scene of the early 1950s, a mysterious pianist dazzles audiences with his playing and similarly disturbs them with his dark behavior. The musical genius of Ellis “Fingerz” Relic is outshined only by his rep for odd behavior and his questionable lineage. On the contrary, William “Willy the Heir” Herrit, our narrator and protagonist, is Relic’s prime rival with a stellar pedigree, his father being the trailblazing, late-great jazz legend, “Big King Will” Herrit. Despite the two prodigious musicians being virtual equals in skill, Herrit receives preferential treatment because of both his famous name and Relic’s… peculiarities... From behind the piano, Willy the Heir holds the coveted lead in the city’s most lucrative quintet, known as “The Flagship”, for six years before THE night...

…THE night was March 11th, 1951. On that rather inconspicuous Tuesday evening, at the Zanzi-Bar in downtown Philly, Ellis Relic performed an impossible piece of music. Afterward, Fingerz offered only cryptic words and faded away, but none there would ever shake the memory of this experience. For Willy the Heir, it truly changed him FOREVER. He spent twenty miserable years obsessively searching for the truth behind that night, the truth about Fingerz and his mystical symphony, finally receiving the otherworldly answers he so desperately sought on the night of his death.
